Inside Sports Network's new Insider Sheet model breaks down the latest projections for every PGA Tour event and calculates the top value plays each week. This week, we've taken a look at the top five value plays at or under $8,000 in ISN's model to break down their recent form and relevant stats.
Min Woo Lee ($7,700)
It's very possible the last time you heard from Min Woo Lee was when he was letting you down en route to a 59th place finish in The Open Championship. That's because Min Woo hasn't teed it up since. But before that, he was solo 2nd at the Scottish Open (letting me and my outright bet down, no I'm not bitter). It's been an up and down season for the Kiwi, with top 10 and top 20 spikes amid frustrating missed cuts like at the Memorial and the US Open. But the first round of the playoffs? Seems like more Min Woo's scene. And so far, the ownership looks pretty reasonable.
Michael Thorbjornsen ($7,500)
Admittedly, some people don't like playing a guy fresh off his first win -- or any win for that matter. But it's hard not to look at what Thor's been doing for a while and not see a pattern of success. Has Thor turned a corner? He's gained in every strokes gained stat category for the last 3 tournaments with the exception of one -- putting at the Open. More than 3 strokes gained on approach in each of his last two tournaments. A deadly driver, the ability to spike with the putter, and he's hitting his irons as well as anyone. You might want to stay on the Thorjbornsen bandwagon.
