Inside Sports Network's new Insider Sheet model breaks down the latest projections for every PGA Tour event and calculates the top value plays each week. This week, we've taken a look at the top five value plays at or under $8,000 in ISN's model to break down their recent form and relevant stats.
Nico Echavarria
Echavarria has been quietly stacking some solid performances over the past few months -- the Colombian veteran has missed just one cut since The Masters and has shown out with some decent results, most notably a T6 at Colonial. Echavarria is a former winner this year at Cognizant and has gained more than two strokes on approach in his last two events -- a T30 at Travelers and a T36 at the Scottish Open. His weakness may be off the tee, as he's lost OTT in 9 of his last 12 events, but with a lack of emphasis on the driver this week, things may be lining up for Nico.
Nicolai Hojgaard
Hojgaard's doldrums seem to be firmly behind him. After a tough stretch of golf that included missed cuts at the Memorial, the Canadian Open, and the US Open in succession, Nicolai has rallied with strong finishes at Travelers (T14) and the Scottish Open (T26), where he gained more than 4 strokes on approach. Hojgaard has also made four straight cuts at Opens including a T14 at Royal Portrush last year. Other strong finishes this year include runner-up finishes at Quail Hollow and Memorial Park. What's more, ownership seems to be pretty reasonable. Could Nicolai be ready for a big breakthrough?
