Scottish Open DFS Value Plays

Inside Sports Network's new Insider Sheet model breaks down the latest projections for every PGA Tour event and calculates the top value plays each week. This week, we've taken a look at the top five value plays at or under $8,000 in ISN's model to break down their recent form and relevant stats.

  1. Alex Smalley

Looking at the ISN Insider Sheet, you'll notice something in particular -- this might be the most that approach has been de-emphasized all season. It's not that approach isn't important -- it always is -- but Andy Lack's model prioritizes the driver and the putter. That just happens to be two places where Smalley has shined. His recent form has been sub-standard with a T47 and two missed cuts, partly as the result of that below-average approach play, but look closer and you'll see a golfer who prior to this hadn't missed a cut since the Farmer's back in February. Smalley is also one of the best putters in the field inside 10 feet, and The Renaissance Club is notoriously difficult from this range.

  1. Nicolas Echavarria

It's starting to feel like Echavarria is finding a new gear. The Colombian has put together a strong season in 2026 -- he has a win at the Cognizant Classic, plus T10 finishes at Pebble Beach and Colonial. He's also gained more than a stroke putting in 5 of his last 7 events including nearly 3 at the US Open. If the putter is working, Echavarria could be very dangerous. Nico also has some positive course history here, finishing T22 last year.
